About Dr. Malek

Sabri Malek, MD,FIPP, is a board certified anesthesiologist and pain management specialist at Hospice and Palliative Care of California. At his practice in Pasadena, California, he offers dedicated hospice care to provide the best end-of-life care for patients over the age of 18 and above.

Dr. Malek earned his medical degree from the James H. Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. He went on to complete an internship in pain medicine at The Medical Center, Inc., in Columbus, Georgia. Afterward, he moved to the East Coast and finished a traditional one-year internship at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in New York City. He then completed a residency in anesthesiology at (UMDNJ) University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark, New Jersey, and a fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at Walter Reed (WRAMC) Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, as an active duty US Army officer.

At Hospice and Palliative Care of California, he strives to improve the quality of life for patients with chronic and serious medical conditions using interventional pain management skills and methods to augment traditional palliative care measures including palliative psychiatry. Known for his attention to detail and personable manner, he specifically tailors each patient’s treatment plan according to their specific needs. Dr. Malek makes it a priority to make patients, family, and care givers feel comfortable and takes time to explain treatments in detail, never rushing appointments.

Dr. Malek stays up to date with the latest medical advances and has been published for his research about chronic opioid use. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and is affiliated with the San Gabriel Valley Medical Center at Alhambra, California.
